What is Subtraction?
Subtraction is a fun way to learn about TAKING AWAY from a group to see what is LEFT behind or to find the DIFFERENCE between two numbers. When we see the minus sign (−), it tells us that we are going to take something away. For example, let's imagine we have 9 apples. If we decide to give away 4 apples to our friends, we can write this as 9 − 4 = 5. This means we started with 9 apples, and after giving away 4, we have 5 apples left for ourselves! Subtraction is a helpful tool that shows us how many items remain after we remove some. It’s like a little puzzle where we figure out what’s left after taking some away. So, whenever you see the minus sign, remember it's time to take away and discover what remains!
