Delivery Formats by Platform
Each distribution platform requires specific technical specifications. Netflix requires ProRes 422 HQ or DNxHR HQ at the original capture resolution (minimum 4K for original content), with 10-bit color depth and Rec. 709 color space (or HDR in Rec. 2020/PQ). Broadcast requires XDCAM HD422 (1080i) for some networks or ProRes 422 (1080p) for others. Film festivals often accept ProRes 422 or H.264 at 1080p. Social media platforms accept H.264 MP4 but compress aggressively on upload—deliver at the highest quality allowed to survive compression. Always request the delivery specification document from your distributor before beginning the final export.
