Self-Distribution Platforms
Self-distribution bypasses traditional distributors by placing your film directly on platforms. Aggregators like Distribber (RIP), FilmHub, and Quiver distribute to iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Vudu for flat fees ($1,000-$2,000) or revenue shares (15-20%). Amazon Prime Video Direct allows direct upload with a per-hour-streamed royalty (approximately $0.06-$0.12/hour in the US). Vimeo On Demand lets you sell or rent directly from your own page, keeping 90% of revenue. YouTube offers ad-supported free viewing with revenue sharing. Each platform has different strengths: iTunes for premium rentals, Amazon for subscriber reach, Vimeo for filmmaker-friendly terms, YouTube for maximum eyeballs.
