Grizzly Bears
Grizzly bears are large, powerful bears that live in forests and mountains of North America. They get their name from the 'grizzled' (gray-tipped) fur on their backs. A grizzly can weigh up to 800 pounds β that is as heavy as four adult humans! They have a big hump of muscle on their shoulders that gives them incredible digging strength. Grizzlies are omnivores β they eat berries, roots, insects, fish, and sometimes larger animals. In autumn, grizzlies catch salmon leaping up waterfalls!
