Life in a Dolphin Pod

A group of dolphins is called a POD. Most pods have 10 to 30 dolphins, but sometimes hundreds or even thousands of dolphins come together in a SUPERPOD! Within a pod, dolphins form close friendships. They swim together, hunt together, play together, and protect each other. Mother dolphins and their calves have the strongest bond — they stay together for 3 to 6 years. Male dolphins often form pairs or trios of best friends that stick together for decades!
