Your Voice Toolkit
An actor's voice is incredibly versatile! You can change three things to create totally different characters:
PITCH (high or low): a high voice sounds young, small, or excited. A low voice sounds old, big, or serious. Try saying 'hello' in the highest voice you can, then the lowest. Huge difference!
SPEED (fast or slow): a fast voice sounds nervous, excited, or silly. A slow voice sounds calm, wise, or scary. Try saying 'I am coming to get you' fast (silly!) versus slow (creepy!).
VOLUME (loud or soft): a loud voice sounds confident, angry, or commanding. A soft voice sounds shy, scared, or gentle. Try saying 'look at that' in a loud excited way versus a soft mysterious way.
Combine them for amazing characters:
High + fast + loud = hyper excited character
Low + slow + soft = mysterious villain
High + slow + soft = gentle fairy
Low + fast + loud = angry giant
Try as many combinations as you can. Each one creates a completely different character!
