Pharaohs: Powerful Kings and Queens

Pharaohs were the rulers of ancient Egypt. They were the most powerful people in the land and were believed to be living gods! Pharaohs wore a special crown called a pschent that combined the white crown of Upper Egypt and the red crown of Lower Egypt. They also carried a crook (a shepherd's hook) and a flail (a type of whip) as symbols of their power.
