Young Harriet

Harriet Tubman was born around 1822 in Maryland. Her birth name was Araminta Ross, and she was born into slavery. This means she was not free. She was forced to work very hard from a very young age. She worked in fields, hauled logs, and did housework for the people who enslaved her. Even as a child, Harriet dreamed of freedom.
