Forest Homes
The Eastern Woodlands covered the forests of eastern North America. Nations like the Iroquois (Haudenosaunee), Cherokee, and Powhatan lived here. The forest provided everything they needed: wood for homes, animals for food and clothing, and plants for medicine. They built longhouses from wooden frames covered with bark. A longhouse could be over 100 feet long and hold many families!
