Being a Helper
Helping others is one of the most powerful ways to be kind. When you help someone, you are saying: 'I see you. I care about you. You matter to me.'
There are two types of helping: ASKED help and SURPRISE help.
ASKED help is when someone says 'Can you help me?' and you say YES! Maybe your teacher asks you to pass out papers, or your parent asks you to set the table. Saying yes cheerfully is kind.
SURPRISE help is even MORE powerful β it is when you notice someone needs help and you offer WITHOUT being asked! Maybe you see your classmate drop their books. Instead of walking past, you stop and help pick them up. Maybe you see your mom carrying heavy grocery bags and you run to help carry some.
Surprise help shows that you are paying attention to the people around you and you CARE.
