Building Layers

Start with small rocks or pebbles at the bottom of your jar — about one inch deep. This layer is for drainage. Without it, water pools at the bottom and plant roots get soggy and rot. The rocks create spaces for extra water to flow away from the roots. Think of it as a tiny underground river!
