What Are Near Doubles?

You already know your doubles: 3+3=6, 4+4=8, 5+5=10. But what about 3+4, 4+5, or 5+6? These are called near doubles because the two numbers are right next to each other — they are only 1 apart. The great news is that you can use the doubles you already know to solve these! The strategy is called doubles plus one.
