Cutting a Pizza
Maya made a round pizza! She cuts it into 4 EQUAL slices. Each slice is 1/4 (one quarter) of the pizza.
If she eats 1 slice, she ate 1/4 of the pizza. 3 slices are left, so 3/4 remains.
If she cut it into 2 equal pieces instead, each piece would be 1/2 (one half). Bigger slices!
1/2 is BIGGER than 1/4 because you're dividing the same pizza into fewer pieces. Fewer cuts = bigger pieces.
**Think About It:** 2 slices of a 4-slice pizza (2/4) is the SAME as 1 slice of a 2-slice pizza (1/2). They're equal!
