Meet the Money!
Kai and Ruby are opening a lemonade stand! Before they start, they need to know their coins.
Penny = 1 cent (1¢)
Nickel = 5 cents (5¢)
Dime = 10 cents (10¢)
Quarter = 25 cents (25¢)
Kai finds 3 dimes in his pocket. How much is that? Skip count by 10s: 10, 20, 30. That's 30 cents!
Ruby has 4 nickels. Skip count by 5s: 5, 10, 15, 20. She has 20 cents.
Together they have 30 + 20 = 50 cents to start their business!
**Think About It:** Which is worth more — 2 dimes or 3 nickels? 2 dimes = 20¢. 3 nickels = 15¢. The dimes are worth more!
