Dynamics Tell Stories
Dynamics help music tell stories without words! Here is how:
Soft (piano) music can tell stories about: sneaking through a dark cave, a baby sleeping, snowflakes falling gently, a secret being whispered, or a tiny mouse creeping past a sleeping cat.
Loud (forte) music can tell stories about: a brave knight charging into battle, fireworks exploding, a thunderstorm raging, a crowd cheering, or a dragon roaring.
Crescendo (getting louder) tells stories about: something approaching (footsteps getting closer!), excitement building, waking up, a storm rolling in, or a rocket launching.
Decrescendo (getting softer) tells stories about: something going away (a train disappearing), falling asleep, a storm passing, the sun setting, or someone waving goodbye.
When you add dynamics to music, you turn sounds into stories!
