What Are Lyrics?
Lyrics are the WORDS of a song. When you sing Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are, those words are the lyrics! Someone had to think of those words and write them down before the song could exist.
The person who writes lyrics is called a songwriter or lyricist. And guess what? YOU can be a songwriter! You do not need to be a grown-up or a famous musician. All you need is something to say and some creativity.
Songs can be about ANYTHING: your pet, your favorite food, your best friend, a silly story about a flying pizza, how you feel when it rains, a superhero adventure, or what you did at the playground today.
The first step in writing a song is choosing your TOPIC, what your song will be about. Pick something you care about or something that makes you laugh. The best songs come from real feelings and real experiences!
