Finding the Main Idea

The main idea is what a paragraph is mostly about. It is the big, important point. If someone asked 'What was that paragraph about?' your answer would be the main idea. For example: 'Dogs are great pets. They are loyal. They play with you. They keep you company.' The main idea is: dogs are great pets.
