Life as an Astronaut
Astronauts are people who travel to space! They train for years before their first mission. They learn to float in zero gravity, fix equipment, and do science experiments. In space, everything floats! Astronauts eat special food from pouches. They sleep in sleeping bags attached to the wall so they don't float away! They exercise for two hours every day to keep their muscles strong. Astronauts wear special suits when they go outside the spacecraft. A spacewalk can last 6 to 8 hours! The first person to walk on the Moon was Neil Armstrong in 1969. He said, 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.'
