What Is Migration?
Migration is when animals travel long distances to find food, warmer weather, or a safe place to have babies. Many birds fly south when winter comes because there are no insects to eat in the cold. When spring arrives, they fly back north! Some migrations are incredible β the Arctic tern flies from the Arctic to Antarctica and back every year β that is over 44,000 miles! Migration is a behavior adaptation β animals are born knowing how to do it.
