Adaptations for Cold
Animals in cold places have amazing body adaptations! Polar bears have thick fur and a layer of blubber (fat) under their skin to stay warm. Penguins have waterproof feathers and huddle together for warmth. Arctic foxes have furry paws that work like snow boots. Walruses have thick blubber that keeps them warm in icy water. Snowy owls have feathers all the way down to their toes! Every cold-weather animal has special ways to beat the chill.
