The Moon Orbits Earth
Just like Earth orbits the sun, the MOON orbits the Earth! The moon goes around us in about 29 days β almost one month. The word 'month' actually comes from 'moon!' The moon does not make its own light β it reflects sunlight, like a mirror. The bright part of the moon is the part the sun is shining on. As the moon orbits Earth, we see different amounts of its sunlit side.
