What Is a Pond?
A pond is a small body of still, fresh water. Unlike the ocean, pond water is not salty. Unlike a river, the water does not flow. Ponds are usually shallow enough that sunlight can reach the bottom. This means plants can grow all the way across! Ponds can be found in parks, farms, forests, and even in people's backyards. They may be small, but they are FULL of life!
