Pond Food Chain

Everything in a pond is connected by food chains! Here is one: algae grows using sunlight (producer). A tadpole eats the algae (primary consumer). A small fish eats the tadpole (secondary consumer). A heron eats the fish (top predator). Sun to algae to tadpole to fish to heron! Each link in the chain passes energy along.
