Where Does Light Come From?

A light source is anything that makes its own light. The biggest light source we know is the sun! It is a giant ball of burning gas that lights up our whole planet. Stars are light sources too — they are suns very far away. Fire makes light — campfires, candles, and fireworks. Some animals even make light! Fireflies glow in the dark, and deep-sea fish have glowing body parts. Anything that creates light on its own is a light source.
