Roots β The Underground Workers
Roots are the parts of a plant that grow DOWN into the soil. You usually cannot see them because they are underground! Roots have two big jobs. First, they ANCHOR the plant β they hold it in place so it does not fall over or blow away in the wind. Second, they ABSORB water and nutrients from the soil, like tiny straws sucking up a drink! Without roots, plants could not get the water they need to live.
