Leaves — The Food Factories

Leaves are the food factories of the plant! They do something amazing called photosynthesis. Photo means 'light' and synthesis means 'putting together.' Leaves use SUNLIGHT, WATER (from the roots), and CARBON DIOXIDE (a gas from the air) to make SUGAR — that is the plant's food! And here is the bonus: while making food, leaves release OXYGEN into the air — the gas we breathe! Plants make the air we need to live!
