The wheel is one of the most important inventions ever! A wheel is a round disc that turns around a rod called an 'axle.' When a wheel turns, it rolls instead of sliding. Rolling has much less friction than dragging! Imagine dragging a heavy box across the floor — hard work! Now put the box on a wagon with wheels — it rolls easily! Wheels changed the world.
