Ramps — The Easy Way Up

A ramp is a flat surface that is tilted — one end is higher than the other. Scientists call it an 'inclined plane.' Ramps make it easier to move things up! Imagine lifting a heavy box straight up onto a truck. Super hard! Now push the box up a ramp to the truck. Much easier! You use more distance (the ramp is longer than just lifting straight up), but you use less force.
