Weather Instruments

Scientists use special tools to measure weather! A thermometer measures temperature — how hot or cold it is. A rain gauge collects rainwater to measure how much rain fell. A wind vane (weather vane) points in the direction the wind is blowing from. An anemometer spins to measure how fast the wind is blowing. A barometer measures air pressure, which helps predict if storms are coming.
