Anger Is Normal
Everyone gets angry. Your parents get angry. Your teachers get angry. Even your pets get angry! Anger is a completely NORMAL emotion that every human being feels.
Anger is your brain's alarm system. It goes off when something feels UNFAIR, FRUSTRATING, or THREATENING. It is actually trying to protect you!
Things that might make you angry:
- Someone takes your toy without asking
- You cannot do something you really want to do
- Someone says something mean to you
- Things do not go the way you planned
- You feel like something is not fair
- Someone breaks a promise
- You are tired, hungry, or not feeling well
Feeling angry is NOT bad. Anger is just a feeling, like happiness or sadness. What matters is what you DO with your anger. There are helpful ways to handle anger and unhelpful ways. We are going to learn the helpful ways!
