Happy and Sad

The Spanish word for happy is feliz! It sounds like feh-LEES. When you smile, laugh, and feel great inside, you are feliz. You can say estoy feliz, which means I am happy. Estoy means I am (for feelings). Think of all the things that make you feliz — playing with friends, eating your favorite food, or getting a hug from mamá. Smile big and say estoy feliz!
