Key Words and Lists

Key words are the MOST IMPORTANT words in a sentence or lesson. They are the words that carry the big idea.

Listen to this: 'Butterflies go through four stages: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly.'

The key words are: butterflies, four stages, egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly.

You do not need to write 'go through' or 'and' — those are small words that do not carry the main information.
