What Is a Friendly Letter?
A friendly letter is a letter you write to someone you know β a friend, a family member, a teacher, or a pen pal. It is a way to share your news, ask questions, tell stories, and show someone you care about them.
Before email, texting, and video calls, letters were the MAIN way people communicated when they were far apart. People would write letters, put them in envelopes, add a stamp, and mail them. It could take days or even weeks for a letter to arrive!
Even today, getting a real letter in the mail feels special. Think about it β someone took the time to sit down, write to YOU, put it in an envelope, and mail it. That is way more personal than a quick text message.
Friendly letters have a special format with 5 parts. Once you learn these parts, you can write letters to anyone!
