Instructions Are Everywhere!
How-to instructions tell someone how to DO something, step by step. You follow instructions every single day!
A recipe tells you how to make cookies. Step 1: Mix the flour and sugar. Step 2: Add the eggs. Step 3: Stir it all together.
Lego instructions show you how to build a set. Step 1: Find the red pieces. Step 2: Snap them together. Step 3: Add the wheels.
Your teacher gives instructions too: First, get out your pencil. Next, open your workbook. Then, write your name. Finally, start the assignment.
Instructions work because they break a big task into small, easy steps. If someone just said 'Make cookies!' you would not know where to start. But if they give you step-by-step instructions, you can follow along and succeed!
