Gone Forever
When a species goes EXTINCT, it means every single member of that species has died and none are left anywhere on Earth. Extinction is forever — once an animal is extinct, it can never come back (at least not yet — scientists are working on 'de-extinction' technology!). Over 99% of all species that have EVER lived on Earth are now extinct. Most extinctions happened naturally over millions of years. But in the last few hundred years, human activities have caused extinctions to happen MUCH faster than normal.
