Monster of the Deep
Giant squid are the stuff of legends — sailors used to tell tales of the 'Kraken,' a sea monster that attacked ships. Giant squid can grow up to 43 feet long (including tentacles) — that is as long as a school bus! They live in the deep ocean, 1,000 to 3,000 feet below the surface, where sunlight never reaches. Scientists did not get footage of a living giant squid until 2004! These mysterious creatures have the LARGEST EYES in the animal kingdom — each eye can be the size of a dinner plate (about 10 inches across)!
