Planning Your Masterpiece
It is time to create your ultimate mixed media masterpiece! Great art starts with planning.
Step 1: Choose your subject. What will your artwork be about? A scene from nature? An imaginary world? A portrait? Your favorite animal? An abstract design?
Step 2: Sketch a rough plan. Draw a quick, simple sketch showing where the main elements will go. This does not need to be detailed — just a map of your composition.
Step 3: Gather your materials. Think about what materials you will need: what colors of paper, what drawing tools, what special materials. Organize them so they are ready to use.
Step 4: Remember your composition rules: create a focal point, keep things balanced, and use variety in sizes and shapes.
Step 5: Decide on your layers. What goes in the background? What goes in the middle? What goes in front? Plan your layers from bottom to top.
