Break the Fast!
Breakfast literally means 'break the fast' β you have been fasting (not eating) all night while sleeping! That is 8-12 hours without food. Your body and brain need fuel to start the day.
What happens when you skip breakfast:
- Your brain runs on empty β harder to focus and remember things at school
- You feel tired and sluggish
- You get cranky and irritable (hangry!)
- You overeat at lunch because you are starving
What happens when you eat a good breakfast:
- Your brain has fuel to think, learn, and create
- You have energy for morning activities
- You are in a better mood
- You eat healthier the rest of the day
Studies show that kids who eat breakfast do better on tests, pay attention more in class, and have more energy for recess. Breakfast is literally brain fuel!
