Making Pasta Balanced
Pasta alone is just grains. Make it balanced by adding protein (ground turkey in sauce, chicken, shrimp, beans, meatballs), vegetables (broccoli, cherry tomatoes, spinach, peppers, peas), dairy (Parmesan, mozzarella), and fruit on the side (grapes, apple slices). A perfect pasta dinner: whole wheat penne + marinara with turkey + steamed broccoli + Parmesan + grapes + milk = all five food groups!
