All Roads Lead to Rome
The Romans built over 50,000 miles of roads across their empire! These roads were so well-built that some still exist today, 2,000 years later. They were made of layers: large stones on the bottom, gravel in the middle, and flat paving stones on top. Roman roads were straight, which was the shortest distance between two places. The saying 'All roads lead to Rome' was literally true!
