The Printing Press

Before the printing press, every book had to be copied by hand! Monks would spend months or even years copying a single book with ink and quill pens. Books were so expensive that only kings, churches, and wealthy people could own them. Most ordinary people never read a book in their entire lives. Knowledge was locked away for the few who could afford it.
