Steel Drums of the Caribbean
Steel drums, also called steel pans, were invented in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1930s. They are made from oil barrels that are hammered into different sections, each producing a different musical note. When played, they create a bright, happy, ringing sound that makes you want to dance! Steel drum bands, called steel orchestras, can have dozens of players performing together in beautiful harmony.
