Build and Test Your Solar Oven

Step 1: Cut a flap in the lid of the pizza box, leaving one side attached as a hinge.

Step 2: Cover the inside of the flap with aluminum foil (shiny side out). This is your reflector.

Step 3: Line the bottom of the box with black construction paper. This absorbs heat.

Step 4: Stretch clear plastic wrap over the opening where the flap was cut. Tape it tight. This is your window that lets light in but traps heat.

Step 5: Place your food on the black paper inside.

Step 6: Use a stick to prop the foil flap at an angle that reflects sunlight through the window.

Step 7: Put a thermometer inside to track the temperature.
