More Baking Soda = Bigger Eruption?
Let us test! Keep the vinegar amount the same (half cup) but change the baking soda:
Test 1: 1 tablespoon of baking soda
Test 2: 2 tablespoons of baking soda
Test 3: 4 tablespoons of baking soda
Predict: will more baking soda make a bigger eruption? Let us find out!
Results: More baking soda DOES make a bigger eruption, up to a point. After that, adding more baking soda does not help because there is not enough vinegar to react with all of it. The leftover baking soda just sits there unreacted.
