Reading a Thermometer

A thermometer has liquid inside a thin tube. When it gets warmer, the liquid expands and rises up the tube. When it cools, the liquid shrinks and drops down. The scale beside the tube tells you the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius.
