The Building Site
Carlos wants to build a treehouse! First, he needs to measure the boards.
A ruler shows inches on one side and centimeters on the other. Each inch has small lines between them. Each centimeter is smaller than an inch.
Board A: 12 inches (that is 1 foot!)
Board B: 8 inches
Board C: 15 inches
Which board is longest? Board C at 15 inches. Shortest? Board B at 8.
Difference: 15 - 8 = 7 inches between longest and shortest.
**Think About It:** 12 inches = 1 foot. So Board A is exactly 1 foot long!
