How Far Is It?
In our simplified solar system (using space units):
Earth to Moon: 10 units
Moon to Mars: 30 units
Mars to Jupiter: 50 units
Earth to Mars (through Moon): 10 + 30 = 40 units.
Earth to Jupiter (through Moon and Mars): 10 + 30 + 50 = 90 units.
Farther planets require longer trips. Jupiter is 90 - 10 = 80 units farther than the Moon!
**Think About It:** Real space distances are in millions of miles. We use simplified units to practice the math!
