The Fiery Genius
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany in 1770. Unlike Mozart's supportive father, Beethoven's father was harsh β he forced young Ludwig to practice for hours, sometimes waking him in the middle of the night to play for drunk guests.
Despite this difficult childhood, Beethoven became one of the greatest musicians ever. He moved to Vienna (the music capital of the world) at age 22 and quickly became famous for his incredible piano playing and powerful compositions.
Beethoven was a REBEL. While Mozart wrote elegant, pretty music, Beethoven's music was wild, emotional, and sometimes shocking. He broke the rules of classical music, making his symphonies longer, louder, and more dramatic than anything heard before. He was the first true ROCK STAR of classical music!
