Speed Reading Notes
The goal of learning note names is to be able to read them QUICKLY, without having to count lines and spaces every time. Let us practice!
Quick quiz β name these notes as fast as you can:
1. Note on the bottom line β E!
2. Note in the top space β E! (yes, both are E but in different spots!)
3. Note on the middle line β B!
4. Note in the first space β F!
5. Note on the second line β G!
If you had to think for a moment, that is okay. With practice, the answers will come instantly. Professional musicians can read hundreds of notes per minute β but they all started exactly where you are now!
Here is a practice tip: make flashcards with a note drawn on a staff on one side and the note name on the other. Quiz yourself every day for just 5 minutes and you will be amazed how fast you improve.
