Colors Equal Nutrients
Each color of food has different vitamins and minerals! Eating a rainbow ensures you get them all.
RED foods (tomatoes, strawberries, red peppers, watermelon): Vitamin C, lycopene (heart health)
ORANGE foods (carrots, sweet potatoes, oranges, mangoes): Vitamin A, vitamin C, beta-carotene
YELLOW foods (bananas, corn, pineapple, yellow peppers): Potassium, vitamin C, fiber
GREEN foods (spinach, broccoli, kale, peas, kiwi): Iron, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin C, fiber
BLUE/PURPLE foods (blueberries, grapes, plums, eggplant): Antioxidants for brain health
WHITE/BROWN foods (bananas inside, potatoes, mushrooms, cauliflower): Potassium, fiber, B vitamins
The easiest nutrition rule: eat foods of as many different colors as possible every day! If your plate is all brown and white, add some color. A plate with green broccoli, red tomatoes, orange carrots, and yellow corn is both beautiful and incredibly nutritious.
